Master clutch cylinder 51781
This week ABS is releasing a plastic master clutch cylinder (51781) for a.o. the Nissan Qashqai 1.2 DIG-T from 2014 onwards.
The use of plastics for this type of cylinders has grown over the last years. Advantages are that more complex shapes can be realized using plastics and the part will be lighter than a similar part made out of metal.
The downside to using plastics is that the part has to be handled more carefully during installation. The plastic pushrods are easily damaged and the hose pillar can bend or brake more easily than its metal counterpart. Once installed a plastic cylinder can be just as durable as a metal part.
In the case of this Nissan Qashqai this part is one of the last ABS had to add to obtain good coverage for the part range that ABS supplies. Brake discs and pads, calipers (Rears with EPB), clutch slave cylinder, brake master cylinder, splash shields, ABS sensors, are all available from ABS.
